The
Toledo Newspaper Guild's human rights program works toward
fairness and equity for all in the workplace. The goals of
The Newspaper Guild's human rights program include ensuring
the rights of members; promoting diversity in the industry
and in our union; creating an environment that fosters equal
opportunity and permits every member to reach full potential,
and eliminating harassment and hostile work environments.
Those
goals were reaffirmed at the 2005 Guild Sector Conference --
the annual meeting of The Newspaper Guild -- which called on
all levels of union leadership to make issues of equity and
diversity a top priority. The conference also said that locals
and members should continue to form alliances with groups that
share the Guild's human rights objectives. The Toledo Newspaper
Guild has continuing associations with the Northwest Ohio Black
Media Association, which is the local chapter of the National
Association of Black Journalists, and the National Lesbian
and Gay Journalists Association. |
